Story of Equals………………………………………………………………………………
It’s really nice to write something about you see, something that can your perspective or something that can give you a positive boost…. Watching things happening around me is the thing which I like the most I can sit in a corner of a crowded place and watch people around me for hours together; this habit of mine sometime irritates my better half but; I just cannot stop it as I have mentioned earlier the thing which fascinates me in life is people and coz of this habit of mine I get to witness some incidents which are really very enriching and which can be told to everyone and yeah they also can be talked about.
Today morning I was lucky enough to witness one such kind of an experience, I found it really very interesting and at the same time very enriching too.
Today morning as always after getting up late and doing all the bhagambhag I left for office so while riding I got stuck in a traffic jam near a place called DN Nagar, where I was standing on my bike, exact opposite to that place is a bus stop which I get to see every day, it is just a normal and ever crowded bus stop but today it witnessed an amazingly interesting event and I am sure that bus stop also must be as happy and it will also cherish that moment the way I’m doing it.
I saw a person with a bowl [katora in hindi] in his hands was begging, the things which he depended on for seeking the sympathy of the people were one paralyzed hand and a paralyzed leg, which he was dragging along and he went to everybody on the bus stop and then he went to this person who gave him a cold look just like the other people on the bus stop did, this person was wearing proper office going cloths and it was quiet clearly visible that he was there to reach his office but the only difference he had was two crutches he was holding under his arms. He just continued to give him the cold look so the beggar started walking from there and reached at a distance of around 10-15 steps, seeing this the person with crutches walked behind him, he made him stop, took out one note (as I was far couldn’t see the denomination) and handed it over to the beggar and without saying anything walked back to the bus stop.
This whole incident happened in a short span of 2-3 minutes but really it has left a big impression on me. I could not understand the logic of the person not giving anything to him then and there, but what I perceived from is that person may be wanted to tell him, “Don’t use your disability to gain undue sympathy but try and fight for your own respect and your own self. you are not helpless, you are not just one “dharti ka boz” you and me are equals but look at me if I can do it then even you can ….just look at me even I ’ m using crutches to walk to you but yeah I have something to give you, which will tell you if you walk ahead I will follow with the help which you need just move on don’t beg, don’t seek just sympathy who are not far superior from you….. Yeah you can do it…….
This unspoken, unsaid dialogue between the two “EQUALS” is still there in front of my eyes and I think it will be there for a long time…
Hats off to you both “EQUALS” and thanks a lot………
