As a kid i never understood wat exactly it means by elections & couldnt understand the painted walls of the public property..but when i was in 5th my dad had election duty & with him he took me every where. I saw ballot papers, the stamps, the involvement of people in this process and I started liking the process..though I didnt understand even then what exactly election means.. It took almost 15-16 years of my life to understand the complete meaning of elections and the interests involved in it when I fought an election when I was in 11th. The election was really very trivial but it was interesting and surprisingly I got elected as C.R. You wont believe i felt like i have some power in my hands and i'm someone diffrent. but soon when i faced problems i resigned as i couldnt stand against our college staff as they had our board practical marks in their controll..
But believe me i can say standing for an election and getting elected is a big deal..coz however strong an candidate be his ultimate fate is decided by the people's verdict..all the candidates who are so "strong" in every aspect have to fold their hands and come to the door steps of people and actually have to beg for their votes and i believe that's the beauty of democracy..there are people who say they come once in 5 years but guys you forget if that "chosen one" dosent turn up to you, you can throw him out with the power of your votes, not a single politician or "neta" is indespinsable otherwise, they would not have bothered to come to our door steps even after 5 years...
Thats why I really feel proud to be a part of this process and lets join our hands and say " Long Live Democracy"
Hey the post is really nice......
ReplyDeleteyou are right when you say that ' democracy must live long'......
But I beg to differ with you in certain aspects...
Because I feel , not just 'long life' but 'healthy life' is important when it comes to any political system....
